My
name is Keri and I have a '96 Ford Windstar. I purchased this
vehicle in '98 with the extended warranty. The van has had several
transmissions. History on transmissions:
(1) The transmission it was built with,
(2) previous owners put the second transmission in it,
(3rd) transmission put in at 58,173,
(4th) transmission put in at 67,467 miles - repaired seal on
4th transmission 87,946 and now a new transmission is needed
again at 91,482. I realize the van has lots of miles but the
transmission is always being replaced! Ford motor company has
offered nothing to help me on the 5th transmission!
My warranty on the last transmission had expired by a few weeks
and the miles were right at 24,000 (warranty was 2 years, 24,000)
however, there was already a repair on the fourth transmission!
The dealership felt that Ford should help too. I talked with
two reps. and then a supervisor named Marisha at Ford and still
got no where. I've done some looking into this and apparently,
Ford does know that the Windstars have transmission issues and
they are not recalling or helping any of the consumers.
