From
TFP:
Now, I will not argue with Rodale, (even though he and his
buddies were kicked from our site for abusing the services
and stealing from our resources) I shall ignore any reference
to him in this email.
Complaint:
The administrator of this web site formerly used the
name TFProject.com, but changed it to .org, proudly proclaiming
that he did not have anything to sell, hence the extension
change.
TFP's
Response:
The Tilted Forum Project has NEVER been .com, nor have ever
had an extension change. TFP is a privately owned site, and
the owner has the RIGHT to refuse entry to anyone while exercising
that same right to allow entry to anyone.
Complaint:
However, after using this site for a few months, the
administrator decided to start demanding payment and/or photo
submissions as payment. He called those who were not contributing
in one of these ways "lurkers" and gave a week for
the so-called "lurkers" to pay money or contribute
photos. At the end of the week, he took action to prohibit
"lurkers" from accessing the site and closed registration
to new users.
TFP's
Response:
The TFP has been around much longer than few months. We have
an community of 23,000 members (until recently), 16 forums,
our own IRC channel. We just AXED 15,000 people for inactivity.
To explain in short, people who has signed up but do not use
their opportunity to become part of this community. We have
a couple of forums of adult oriented content that our members
took on their own initiative to create for themselves, in
which generates very much interest to others.
We have
had this problem of people who are not doing anything but
treat our site as a "pr0n" site, entering the members
forum and "hot linking" our members private collections
or personal pictures to OTHER forums without their explicit
permission. Also these same people do nothing but flood the
site, put unwanted stress on our resources, create unnecessary
bandwidth to our site and tie up our server that our members
cannot reach the site. The TFProject is not a public owned
site, it isn't YAHOO or Microsoft, and no one has a RIGHT
to it. We do not have a public service to offer. We run as
we do, just like you. I noticed you have this on your page:
"We are calling on all of our readers to help support
Justice Junction! If you enjoy this site please help us keep
it going with your donation. Methods of payment are Paypal
or money order. To make a donation, please click here."
We run on the same method as you do. We say, "If you
like our site, you DON'T have to contribute with a donation,
contribute by posting your appreciation to the post you enjoy.
Become part of this community."
Complaint:
I feel this is an attempt at extorting money from site
users who have no desire to pay. He said he changed the extension
from .com to .org because he wasn't selling anything. This
has certainly become misleading because now he charges to
visit the site. I was properly registered and want to continue
using the site. But extortion is not the way to go. I believe
he should reopen his site to anyone, as long as he uses the
.org extension. If he still wants to charge for site admission,
I believe he should be required to change his extension back
to .com. I also believe he should be required to notify anyone
who ever visited his site that he has changed his policy and
telling us what he has decided to do about it.
TFP's
Response:
I shall say again: The TFProject is a PRIVATELY OWNED site
and has NEVER been registered under the .com registration.
You do not have some "right" to it. And has NEVER
charge any fee to allow admittance. In 6 months, we have had
over 16,000 accounts with ZERO activity. Not one post. It
shows these accounts have not tried to involve themselves
into our community, why keep them? We have had posted warnings
for 4 months that we will delete inactive accounts, but seeing
that most of these people NEVER even browsed beyond our "Titty
Board", they would have seen it and taken measures to
avoid being deleted.
Well I
will end this little "rant", hopefully it will get
posted on your site, and it will show future "complainers"
that you aren't here to be taken advantage of your services
either. Feel free to drop by our chat channel #tfp on irc.irvingnet.net
for a chat. We also started our "screening" process
through there, you should come witness some of the attitudes
of these people who wish to gain admittance..
Hope to
see any of you,
