AOL Complaint - Selective Pricing Plans?
My name is Barbara from Omaha NE, I am disabled with severe vision problems plus other health issues. I am sending a complaint as to AOL and its fraudulent practices against innocent consumers. I wrote the BBB prior to this episode and AOL refused to accept error responsibility for their accounting practices. This past month I was having problems with my bank account and was unsure of why checks would be bouncing. Come to find out I was deceived by AOL with a pop-up message that said my debit account number needed to be updated or I will lose services. I called to find out why since the information was on file last month and was told I would still receive my $21.51 as my selected price plan but they had made changes in their system and I needed to just update information. Little did I know that submitting that info they used it as an authori zation technique to change my pricing plan with out notifying me it was being done. Just the opposite occured over the phone - I was promised no pricing plan change would be made. This had been done to me prior and I made complaint to BBB but could not prove non-authorization of such change by me.

When I checked my billing info and attempted to review my pricing plan authorized under the pricing plan button in billing - I found that again my pricing plan had been changed. It was even changed today without me having submitted any information. If you just look - AOL changes it to what ever price plan will rake in the huge amount of money they can abscound from an unsuspecting consumer. This consumer was charged $398.04 (disabled income money) without authorization from me. I asked for my money back and they pretty much told me to scratch my butt for they got me and tough luck babe - disabled or not - we could care less.

I would like some justice in recouping my $398.04 monies plus the $90.00 bad check fees I have had to pay due to their fraudulent price change policies. I would also like some kind of law that would prevent AOL from just changing a price plan with a click of a button. There is absolutely no warning that if you click the price plan button they automatically change your account - even though nothing was filled out by the consumer - as stated to me - you clicked - you peeked - we charged - and thanks for the money honey.

Please help me with getting my money back - BBB could do nothing the first time and I believe my trust in them not to do it a second time has been a laughing matter to them. I will be looking for a new service but am desperate to get my disabled income back in my bank.

Thank you Barbara
