I
have wrote a check to Cross Country Bank for someone I know
once. He was late on his bill this past July and Cross Country
Bank had taken out money from my checking account without my
authority to pay for his Cross Country account at another time.
When my friend had called to pay for his late payment, that
was when they told him that they already processed the transaction.
He had no idea that they were taking money out of my checking
account. He told them to stop the transaction, but they said
they already processed it. He told them it is illegal to take
out from someone else's account without permission. They agreed,
but said it is too late.
Cross Country Bank representatives
told my friend to call my bank and tell them to stop the transaction.
I have called my bank, Wells Fargo, and notified them that there
will be or is a transaction of $140 taken out of my checking
account that is not from my transaction. Wells Fargo didn't
see the transaction yet, so they told me to call them back when
there will be one. I called Cross Country Bank right after I
hung up with my Wells Fargo Bank and told them that they took
it out from my checking account. One of the reps said, it is
being stopped and it will be cleared.
Couple of days after, I received a letter
from Wells Fargo Bank stating insufficient fund notice. I've
called my bank to find out what was going on. They had told
me that Cross Country had not been credited the money to my
checking account. Since I didn't have balance to cover $140
payment from which is not mine, it was withdrawn and was charged.
I was very furious.
I called Cross Country Bank and complained
that it was not credited yet, they had told me to get the
statement from Wells Fargo and send it over to Cross Country.
Then they will pay my money back. I told the supervisor why
I have to go through all this time consuming issue for which
it was not my fault, he had told me there's nothing he can
do but just get the statement. He didn't even apologize of
their inconvenience service and was demanding me to send the
statement over to them.
This is ridiculous. I have to use
my time to go back and forth to bank to bank to get my money
which Cross Country Bank had taken out without my permission.
I also have account with them, and when I was complaining
about this issue to the supervisor he was mentioning my account
that it was delinquent, which I already paid my payment. The
supervisor didn't seem so considerate and only thing he was
worried about was my CC Bank account. I also have many problems
with their payment plans, over limit fees, late fees, and
more. I've called so many times with the complaint but they
never did try to help me out with the complaint. I was never
satisfied with their service, and I have tried many times
to close the account. This is just so insane. This is nothing
about getting my money back. This is about being treated fairly.
I would like to take this into a legal action and if there
is anyone out there who also has any problems with Cross Country
service. Please email me at SandraHYKim@yahoo.com

I
have a delinquent Visa account with Cross Country Bank, in the amount
of $2,003.93 I recently enrolled the account in a debt management
program, and sent a letter to them advising of this. I asked that
they cease and desist all collection calls, and I was attempting to
resolve the matter and make timely payments through this program.
My roommate received a call one evening from a male pretending to
be a friend. My roommate told this man I wasn't home, and he became
belligerent, accusing my roommate of lying (as if he were me). He
continued the call and disclosed the balance and delinquent nature
of my account to my roommate. The caller refused to disclose his name
or where he was calling from. He mentioned he was calling from Florida.
He also refused to transfer the call to a supervisor. The caller knew
the name of bank and said that he had my checking account information.
He stated he was going to electronically debit $2,000.00 from my checking
account, and he needed to give me a "confirmation number."
I have never authorized such a transaction, and my roommate refused
to allow him to read the code. The caller threatened to run it anyway,
and it it did not clear, then they would "come after you for
writing a bad check." My roommate argued with the man for several
minutes (he knew the law better than the caller), and the caller hung
up. My roommate immediately called me, and I had a note placed on
my checking account. He also called Cross Country Bank back, and told
them to discontinue calls to his home or phone - both in his name.
The tried to tell him they could do whatever they wanted, and hung
up on him.
The security code on the caller ID was '87," the last
two digits of the phone number called from. These are the same two
digits that show up every time they call - sometimes 5 times a day.
I have stopped answering the phone at home and work. The other day,
I received a notice from my bank advising that a check for $270.00
had bounced. I didn't recognize it, and the bank rep told me it was
an electronic draft from Cross Country Bank. I NEVER authorized anything!
The bank closed my account immediately, and I had to contact all of
my creditors. Because the bank and debt manager needed to process
new account info, my first credit counseling payment would be delayed
30 days. Not only did Cross Country Bank delay their own payment,
they jeopardized my agreements with other creditors. I printed an
online copy of the "check," and it clearly stated, "authorized
by (my name)." Then I received a letter and statement from Cross
Country Bank. They had the nerve to charge me a fee for "internet/phone
payment" processing, and a "returned check fee."
I
wrote Cross Country Bank a letter, demanding the fees be reversed,
and to present proof of the transaction from phone records. I also
wrote letters to my state attorney general, the Delaware and Florida
bank commissioners, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Office of
The Currency. I have received a response from the Delaware Banking
Commissioner's office; they are investigating. I did some research
and found that Cross Country Bank has violated the Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act. They are an unprofessional, unethical and hostile company
to work with. The only way to truly stop this is to let the appropriate
agencies know, each and every incident. I strongly urge anyone who
feels they have been harassed to write:
Office
Of The State Bank Commissioner
State of Delaware
555 East Loockerman Street, Suite 210
Dover, DE 19901
Correspondence
Branch
Federal Trade Commission
Washington, DC 20580
It
is VERY IMPORTANT to keep these agencies informed. The more voices
that are heard, the faster action can be taken.

Boy
oh boy, I knew I was not the only one having problems with CCB. I
also have two accounts with them. I have had so many problems I don't
know where to start. One thing that ticks me off is I can send a payment
7-10 days before it is due, and somehow it will post a day after the
due date so I get late fee's charged on my account. Another thing
that makes me mad is their annual fee. There is no advance warning
that they are going to charge you, and then WHAM! it appears. I usually
run close to my credit limit, and after they charge me my huge annual
fee without notice, I also get an over the limit fee. I have given
up the fight with them, but opened my mail this morning and noticed
a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against them. They had overcharged fee's when
you first get the card. CCB wants to make it up to "us"
by reimbursing us over a 4 yr. period. ($7.50 a year), or by giving
us a credit increase without charge. I DO NOT AGREE! I don't want
to accept this because they charged interest on THEIR fees, which
we all paid for.
I don't want a credit increase. The craziest thing
about this, is it does not matter if you have two or more accounts
with them, they will only reimburse you for 1????? What is up with
that. I do not have an attorneys name to get a hold of for our rights.
All I know is Melinda Allec, and individual., Christopher Torri, Christina
Goodman, Kenneth French, and Nita French have started it for the general
public. Does anyone know how I can get a hold of someone to put my
2 cents in? I don't want to settle for 7.95 a year for their $30+
mistake. This is filed in the Superior Court of the State of California,
Orange County. Case # 802894. |
