I have had some recent problems with Household Bank and their
handling of my CompUSA card. They never changed my address correctly,
I went late (less than 30 days), they cancelled my card (hurt
my credit) and although they provide an online payment web site,
I can't use it because my account is closed. How's that for
sabotage? In addition, when I called their customer service
and spoke with a SUPERVISOR, I was first told "We don't
have online payment set up." When I explained that they
did, as a link from CompUSA's web site, she put me on hold,
came back and said "Oh, it's there, but they're not signing
anyone up for it yet." I then explained that I called the
Web Support line and was told that payments can be made, but
not by me, because my account is closed. This supervisor had
NO IDEA that payments could be made online.Any idea where I
can file a formal complaint to possibly get some action done?

My husband and I had recently ran our credit report. On the
report hrs usa is reporting our account as bankrupt. We have
never been contacted by this company nor have we received any
information in the mail from them. We have never reported a
bankruptcy and cannot reach them. All we have is a phone number.
When we call the number it tell us to report any false information
on our credit report to the credit reporting agencies. I would
like to know if anyone has been in contact with this company
and if they have a way of reaching.

Transferred balance, closed account, arbitration pending on
disputed fees. Although good faith effort was made to pay first
bill in timely fashion, this issuer elected to invoke both excessive
fees and rate increases. Payment was issued by online bill payment
service 4 business days in advance of deadline. Household claims
7-10 days necessary. Since the billing cycle is only 21 days,
this seemed like great reason to close the account.

In June of 1999 my wife and I purchased a pool from NAMCO Pools
in Salem, NH. We place the purchase on a NAMCO credit card backed
by HRS/USA. We had a problem with the merchant so we placed
our account in dispute. When we contacted Household we discovered
our account was in collections and the wanted over $640.00 in
interest and late fees. Because we had a 90 days same as cash
agreement there should have been no fees of any kind. We then
found out that due to a clerical error Household had my wrong
address on file as well. Household refused to wave the interest
and late fees and even refused to send me a copy of my statements.
I hired an attorney and found out I had no cause of action in
court due to an arbitration agreement in paragraph 18 of a 34
paragraph contract. I filed arbitration and after a long and
grueling process Household cleared my entire debt and paid me
$5000.00 in damages on top of that. However they dodged a huge
bullet because I had over 1000 people ready to file a class
action against them.

I was looking up complaints for HAFC when I saw your site. I
am the proud owner of a 2002 Dodge Neon purchased in San Diego
and financed through Household Auto Finance at 22.5% interest
($500 a month for 60 months). I found this to be outrageous
so I attempted to have the vehicle refinanced. During the refinance,
HAFC kept raising the amount of the pay off. It went from being
$17500 to 18900, which left me almost $900 deep on a car that
wasn't worth $19k. After getting that straight with the new
lender (I ended up paying the $900 to the new lender), I signed
the new loan agreement, title transfer and mileage statement
and sent it back. The account has been paid off in full as of
May 10, 2002. HAFC reported me late to all three of the Credit
Reporting Agencies (30 Days, which is incorrect because it only
took 22 days to finance the car). A full month after the vehicle
has been paid off (this month), I get a notice from the new
lender telling me that I am in possible default because they
haven't received the title to the vehicle.
HAFC says that they don't have the title to the vehicle and
won't send anything to anyone. HAFC LOST MY TITLE!! Now my car
is subject to repossession because they don't have a title for
it and my contract states that they must have it within 45 days.
HAFC refuses to comment saying to take it up with the new lender
and the DMV. In addition HAFC told me that they couldn't release
the title without a title release notice authorized by me and
$30 processing fee even if they DID have the title. I'm dealing
with this now as I type. I just thought I would give you an
idea of how bad HAFC really IS! They prey on people with mild
to bad credit, (I was in the mild stage and I got a 22% loan,
I would hate to see what people with bad credit get) They are
one of the biggest predatory lenders in existence and I would
love nothing more than to see them go down.
Good luck in your endeavor.

HAFC is an automotive finance monster that adds false late charges,
false report, and other false charges to accounts. They miscalculate
interest and use incorrect loan terms when determining payments.
If there is a class action being put together, I'd like in.

I received a Household Bank credit card in the mail randomly.
I am a holder of a Best Buy card. There was a number to call
to activate it and a sales pitch trying to sell me account secure
on this card. There was no information whatsoever about the
interest rate that I found out to be 17.99% (Ouch!). I just
am sickened by this company sending unsuspecting people these
cards with no info on the rates and the people just using the
cards to find out they are getting raped on the interest. This
company is up to no good and I just felt the need to let someone
know.

I am going through a tiresome dispute with HRS USA Household
Bank. I have a Best Buy credit card with this company. In December
of 2001 I used this credit card to purchase Christmas gifts.
In March the payment in full was due. I sent the check through
UPS. It so happens that they lost my package. I was unaware
that HRS USA did not receive the payment. After two months I
received a statement from them stating that the full balance
was not paid. I immediately called UPS and tracked the package.
To make a long story short it took five claims to get the information
I felt was needed to state my case to HRS USA (claim notification,
and a personalized letter from a department hear at UPS). I
then sent in the payment for the original amount along with
this documentation. Again, I was never contacted and then received
a bill with NO adjustments to the balance. I can not get anyone
to call me from this company. I sent over another letter last
week explaining what happened with the same documentation asking
to email me or call. They still have not done so. This is impacted
my credit tremendously. I had PERFECT credit until this company
has come into my life. I ALWAYS pay my bills and this small
situation has caused a decline in a load I needed for my wedding
in July. Can you please help me to get this situation resolved
ASAP. I do not know what to do.

Patricia Garcia called me at 8:00pm on 4/22/02 from 1-757-368-1000
and informed me that a settlement was going to be placed in
my name unless I paid the full amount of $1395 by the end of
the month or they were going to garnish my wages. She gave me
a number to call her back at: 1800-395-5323. She was not very
nice but I do owe the money from 1994.

9 months ago I purchased 2 sofas from a Rooms To Go Outlet in
Orlando, FL. After 2 months of not getting a bill, I finally
contacted their financier, HRS USA, and made payment arrangements.
A little over a month ago, I received an insurance package from
"Household Life Insurance Company" I didn't read too
much into it because I had not requested to be covered. (my
total purchases at Rooms To Go had been $600 and I have a steady
income so this was not to pose a huge problem) Anyway, I did
not throw away the information from Household Life Insurance,
but it went undiscovered until I got a bill in the mail from
a revolving credit account. Somehow, I now owe $300 because
I failed to rescind the Insurance claim within 30 days. Please
relay any information you have regarding issues like these.
If you need more details, I will be happy to provide them.
Thank you for your time,
- Nicole

Hi I have recently been part of a scam for Capital Choice Consumer
Credit. I would like to know how I would go about getting a
law suit going on this company. This would not only help me
but also that thousands of others that have also falling for
this scam.

I was sent the capital choice consumer credit invoice also,
and after reading the internet testimony's, I realize this thing
is a complete fraud. Is there anyway you can stop this? Apparently
it is taking hard-working innocent peoples money. I thank you.

My husband and I have a loan with Household. Due to several
misfortunes with my finances, and the illness/death of my mother
during the past year, my payment has been late on several occasions.
We have made contact with them on several occasion, and we can
never seem to talk to the same person twice. Each time we get
different information about my loan, and the payment on the
statement received is often different from the one that we are
quoted on the phone. Several different 1-800 numbers are given
to us, and we don't actually know who is handling the account.
The loan is 60 days pass due, and my husband and I have committed
to paying #339.26 today by quick collect. That is one month's
payment. They requested that we sent over $700.00 dollars, which
we do not have. We were told that if the amount that they requested
was not quick collected by 5:00 P.M. TODAY that the care would
be repo-ed. After speaking to a gentleman last week, we were
told that the car could only be repo-ed if it was 90 days pass
the due date. We received an extension on the loan in December,
and now they are saying that they can cancel it because of the
delinquency on the loan. NO WHERE on the extension form does
it make clear to us that that can be done. We receive harassing
phone calls two and three times a day, and sometimes the representatives
are rude, raise their voices at us, or hang up on us! I have
also been contacted at my job, which is very embarrassing for
me because I work in a class room and the message goes through
many hands before it finally reaches me. I have no personal
phone line at work. My husband has tried to negotiate with them
several times, and we have also at times sent small payments.
They will no longer talk to my husband because his name is not
on the loan. The payments that we send do not apply not to the
actual note, but to the late payments, which I was not made
aware of. I am trying to bring the loan up to date, and will
send the $339.26 today at 4:00 P.M. as I promised. It costs
almost $13.00 to send payment by Western Union Quick Collect.
What are our rights?

A message was left for me Saturday to call Automotive Finance
about my 2nd car payment. The message about my payment was left
with my father, who is not a cosigner nor does he have anything
to do with my car payment. He was simply listed as a relative
that didn't live with me on my application. When I called I
was told that the payment was 3 days late and they were coming
to repossess my car. I was told that I had to make a payment
by 2 o'clock Monday or else. I explained to the guy at the beginning
of the phone call that I was paid every 15th and that's why
my payments were late. I even offer to make two payments if
I could make them when I got paid, even thought I was only 3
days late. He became irate, began screaming this is not a game,
and a bunch of over things. He told me that it would get worse,
when I told him he was very rude. The agents name was Brandon
Watkins. They seem hell bent on repossessing a car that I've
only been allowed to make 1 payment on. Is this a scam? |
