whatever reason, child abuse resulting in the death of our children
is not considered a high priority in our society. The death
numbers keep climbing at an alarming rate as the ages of the
children killed keep going lower and lower. What is wrong with
our society that allows this to happen? What does that say about
us, as people? As a mother? Or a father? What is that telling
our children? That it's ok to kill someone as long as they're
infants or small children? Why is a man and a woman who've been
convicted of murdering a 3 year old little boy out of jail just
a short three years after they've been put in? What's wrong
and how can we, as a society, fix it? |

5, 1993 is a day that changed the lives of everyone in the
small southern town of West Memphis, Arkansas. This was a
normal day, with all the things May twilight would bring.
Dreams of summer vacation, hanging out and staying up late
watching horror flicks. Kids getting ready for long days and
skipping the restrictions of school, people watering their
lawns in the flickering light. Three innocent boys from the
neighborhood were headed out to play for an hour or so in
a patch of woods behind the housing development.

Ramsey: Our Little Miss America

The
brutal murder of 6 year old JonBonet Ramsey on December 26,
1996, the day after Christmas, stunned the nation. Several
different faucets of the murder drew national attention,
6 year old JonBonet was a child beauty queen on the "beauty
pageant" circuit, some say "pushed" by her
"Miss Virginia" mother. But, in my opinion, what
truly drew the attention was the fact that Jon Bonet was found
strangled to death and bludgeoned in the head in her own home.
If that wasn't enough, add in the fact that JonBonet was found
by her father, after a ransom note demanding the exact sum
of Mr. Ramsey's bonus that year, a sum unbeknownst to the
family, except for one, Mr. Ramsey himself. National attention
shifted almost immediately to her parents John and Pasty Ramsey.

Week Old Ian Wing - Murdered by His Fathers Own Hands |
| 7 Week old Ian Wing was squeezed
to death by his own fathers hands. The Division of Child and
Family Services had investigated the couple before the infants
death. What went wrong? Why were signs missed? No one knows,
the only thing anyone knows for certain is that it took nearly
4 years to bring Mark Wing to justice, if you can call it that.

three year old little boy, beaten, tortured, bit, tied up, then
