The UTAP
What Is It, How It Works & Who Can Use It.

The UTAP, stands for The Utah Criminal Tracking and Analysis Project. The UTAP is a clearing house, so to speak, rather than a task force. The UTAP gathers experts from forensic science, crime scene analysis, psychiatry and other fields to screen unsolved cases for local law enforcement agencies. The UTAP has no budget and will only go where invited. "It's really just a resource for local jurisdictions." says Provo Police Chief Greg Cooper. The UTAP is currently helping several rural Utah sheriffs with their unsolved homicides. Cooper went on to say, "In a way, we're just there to brainstorm solutions."

From Justice Junction:
We don't really care why the UTAP is there, how it was founded or even who runs it, we're just glad that they're there at all. Thumbs up to the UTAP!
