The
sequence of events that fateful night will never really be
known. We know what happened to PJ, but we'll never really
know why. There are only three people who truly know what
happened that night and one of them is dead. The other two,
Patrick Bourgeois and Tracy Bratton, have spent the days since
their early release from prison, pointing fingers at each
other.
"I'll tell you this," Tracy said to the Chicago
Tribune, "it wasn't me that hit PJ on top of the head."
Does it really matter what part you played Tracy? Does it
really matter exactly what you did to him? Plain and simply
put, you helped to murder him.
The treatment, or should I say mistreatment, of PJ Bourgeois
certainly didn't begin on the night he was murdered. His short
life was littered with abuse from his father and his fathers
girlfriend. Patrick Bourgeois and Tracy Bratton stated that
PJ would get up during the night and drink from the toilet.
To prevent him from doing this. they would actually TIE him
up at night.
OK here's a thought. Instead of tying up a three year old
boy, why not get your lazy ass out of bed and get him a drink
so that he's not forced to get drinks from the toilet. The
fact that PJ felt he had to resort to getting drinks from
the toilet should have been a sign to the judge. It should
have said, "Hey look, pay attention to this detail!"
Instead PJ was labeled a "hard to handle child, uncontrollable
by Bratton" Blame it on the dead kid, that's one way
to look at it I suppose. |
