When Anna first approached me about this article, she was somewhat hesitant to
write it. Being from Nebraska myself, I urged her to take another look at the
story but from a different angle and she didn't let me down. The story of Brandon
Teena is, sadly to say, a story that happens across our great nation all too
frequently. However, the means in which the sheriff's department (the sheriff
himself I should say) conducted themselves when Brandon went to them for help,
directly led to her death. It reminded me all too much about another police department
in Nebraska who removed a 15 year old girl from her home for deciding to have
an abortion. Anna Griffy has done Brandon justice by shedding new light on a
story that may have faded from public view, but never from the hearts of those
that loved her. |

Justice
Junction is a firm believer in giving life. My personal choice
is pro-life, though everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
When this story came across my desk, I was horrified and shocked
until I realized that this story originates in the town that
I was brought up in, Blair, Nebraska. Growing up in the town
was a nightmare if you weren't accepted, and I wasn't accepted.
But what the town did to this child herself is beyond reprehensible,
it's downright against the law. But what can you do about it
when the police themselves are involved? The ACLU would eventually
step in and initial a lawsuit against several different people
and entities. I wasn't shocked anymore once I learned where this
whole story took place. It was a place that you didn't want to
grow up in. Read how this town managed to destroy a teenagers
life. |

The
Criminal Life of Richard Allen Davis
When Polly Klass was murdered, a heart breaking cry was heard
around the nation. When we learned the man who tortured her,
then killed her was a career criminal, those cries turned to
anger. How was this man allowed to walk free for any length

Stalking and Murder of 16 Year Old Laurie Show |
| It
was the summer of 1991 in East Lampeter Township, Penn. Before
the year was over, four teenagers from different circles would
find themselves drawn into a deadly triangle that would end
in the tragic death of 16 year old Laurie Show. Lisa Michelle
Lambert began dating Lawrence "Butch" Yunkin. Soon
the couples fixation with each other would spin horribly out
of control and they began having violent arguments. The destructive
relationship only got worse when the couple began using other
people to make each other jealous. This particular summer, Lawrence
sought out 15 year old Laurie Show. Laurie was a fun loving
and popular 10th grader who everybody loved to be around. The
couple dated twice during a one week relationship. On their
second date, Lawrence raped the innocent 15 year old in the
back of his van, a charge which Yunkin denies.. After the alleged
date rape, Laurie confided her terrible secret in both her parents.
It was after Lisa and Lawrence got back together when Lisa learned
that Lawrence had dated Laurie she nearly went insane with jealousy.
However, it wasn't the dating that had Lisa in an uproar, it
was the idea that Lawrence had slept with another girl, completely
ignoring the fact that it was not consensual. What would follow
would be the most horrendous injustice in this small towns history. |
