When
Lisa Lambert was questioned by Forrest Sawyer in an interview
done by 20/20 regarding the case her answers were nearly the
same.
Forrest Sawyer: (on camera) How do you feel about Laurie
Shows death?
Lisa Michelle Lambert: It's very sad.
Forrest Sawyer: I hear you say it, but I don't see
you feel it.
Lisa Michelle Lambert: I am very sorry about what happened.
But it's - I wasn't the cause of it. I don't know
what else to say.
Are
adults born like this as infants or are they taught this by
bad parents? Several studies done by numerous leaders in the
psychiatric field have yet to determine positively one way
or the other, but it is thought to be a combination of both.
A case study regarding Gary Gilmore, a man who murdered two
young men in cold blood and then refused to appeal his death
sentence is a good place to begin. Gilmore was executed in
1977.
What made him turn into a killer, while his four brothers
were well adjusted, productive men? One of Gary's brothers
traced Gary's violent tendencies back to their childhood which
consisted of emotional and physical neglect, religious rigidity,
and bouts of physical abuse that can be traced back as far
as both sets of grandparents. While it is clear that Lisa
Lambert was not physically abused her home as a child, could
it be that she was emotionally neglected? So we come back
to the same question, was she born this way, was it bad parenting
or a combination of both? The main thing all appear to have
in common is a total lack of remorse for their crimes, a characteristic
blatantly shown by Lisa Lambert.
Let's take a look at a mental defect termed Anti Social Behavior.
Anti Social Behavior is characterized as:
A. A pervasive pattern of disregard for and violations of
the rights of others occurring since age 15 years, as indicated
by three or more of the following:
- Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful
behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that
are grounds for arrest.
- Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases,
or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
- Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
- irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated
physical fights or assaults
- Reckless disregard for safety of others
- Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure
to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
- Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or
rationalizing having hurt , mistreated or stolen from another.
B. The individual is at least 18 years of age.
C. There is evidence of Conduct Disorder with onset before
the age of 15.
D. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively
during the course of schizophrenia or manic episode.
However, in 1970 Otto Kernberg pointed out that the antisocial
personality was fundamentally narcissistic and without morality.
He called it malignant narcissism, which included a sadistic
element. The self love is central seems correct but this concept
failed to go very far with clinicians who needed practical
instruments. It was Hare and his associates who made the greatest
impact on assessment and treatment. They clarified a set of
diagnostic criteria that offered a practical approach. Psychopathy
was defined as a disorder characterized by:
-
lack of empathy
- shallow emotions
- manipulations
- lying
- egocentricity
- glibness
- low frustration tolerance
- episodic relationships
- parasitic lifestyle
- the persistent violation of social norms
- need for stimulation
- criminal versatility
We can view all the history surrounding this case and Lisa
Lambert specifically and know for certain that she exhibits
these traits mentioned above, nearly all of them. So, why
has she not been diagnosed? I am at a loss for an answer to
that question. It's clear from reports that she exhibited
these traits at an early age, specifically when her parents
kicked her out at the age of 15 and reportedly banned her
from returning as well as accused her of stealing. She has
a repeated record of lying, aggressiveness, violent tendencies,
deception and placing blame on anyone other than herself.
Stories change, she was there, she wasn't there, she did it,
she didn't do it. She was gang raped by the police and that
rape produced a child. Mind you, this child was conclusively
proven to be the child of Lawrence Yunkin. Yet, when the DNA
results came back, Lisa's attorney then hinted that the tests
were tampered with.
20/20
Interview with Forrest Sawyer:
Lisa
Michelle Lambert: I think that the police officers are
afraid that my daughter is one of their children. That's what
I think.
Forrest Sawyer: That's right. Lisa Michelle says they're
really after her because one of the rapists is the father
of her child. The only problem with that? Her ex-boyfriend
Lawrence Yunkin.
Lawrence Yunkin: I got court records that 99.98 percent
chance that I'm the father. I mean, you can't get any closer
than that.
Forrest Sawyer: The probability of paternity is 99.98
percent. The Roche Biomedical Laboratories show it this way.
Tina Rainville: We contacted them. And we were informed
that it was there regular practice to destroy all the records.
Forrest Sawyer: Are you suggesting that the Roche Biomedical
Laboratories might be involved in the conspiracy?
Tina Rainville: I have no idea. But we were not able to
get any of the underlying records to support that.
Forrest Sawyer: A laboratory spokesman says that's
not true. The complete records are still available. So, if,
as the police claim, Lisa Michelle is lying about the murder,
what really happened?
When Lisa's parents were aware of the condition of their child
(lying, stealing, ect) rather than seeking treatment for her,
they turned her loose into society for her anger and frustration
to fester. It is clear that if caught in early childhood,
the condition is preventable to come extent. It is a parents
job to socialize their children and to learn the observational
and listening skills necessary to detect when children are
deviating into harmful patterns. It is NOT an issue of placing
blame but rather detecting the "nutritional" imbalance
and setting it right. In the case of Lisa Michelle Lambert
and so many others like her, this was not done.
