The Stalking & Murder of 16 Year Old Laurie Show
Page 3 - The Murder
It is every parents worst nightmare - to bury a child. To loose a child to an accidental death is in it's own right is hard enough to contemplate. But to loose a child to murder, to have someone other than God make that life or death decision for your child, is intolerable. To have your child tortured and killed, then release the killer from prison with an innocent claim is irreprehensible. But that is exactly what Hazel and John Show have had to live with since their 16 year old daughter Laurie was brutally murdered in December of 1991. There are two different version of what happened the previous night before the murders and the actual murder itself. One version by Lisa Lambert and one by Tabitha Buck. The police, most of the justice system and the majority of the public, believe the second version. We are giving you both versions and will let you decide on your own from the evidence which version you believe.

The facts known to police:

December 19th, 1991 - Hazel Show receives a call from a woman claiming to be Laurie's guidance counselor requesting a meeting early the next morning. When asked during trial if that woman could have been Lisa Lambert Hazel Show answered: "All I've ever heard is screaming, swearing and abuse," Show responded. "Not her normal voice. It could have easily been her."

Lisa Michelle Lambert stops at the local K-Mart and purchases two ski masks and a rope then appears at the apartment of Tabitha Buck upset and wanting to talk. Tabitha would later tell that Lisa was upset over a possible legal problem regarding her pervious assaults on Laurie Show. " She said she was going to get Laurie because the police were after her for an assault against Laurie. She told me she had called Ms. Show and pretended to be a counselor from school. She told me that Ms. Show wouldn't be home the next morning and she wanted me to go with her. I asked her what she was going to do and she said she was going to kill her. I didn't believe her and I told her so. Then she said she was just going to get her back for dating Lawrence and for calling the police on her. I had never seen Michelle fight anyone--she was all talk so I guess I just figured she was just talking and wasn't really going to hurt Laurie." It was a lack in judgment that Tabitha Buck will never forgive herself for. Lambert went on to inform Buck to wear her hair up, not to wear any make up or fingernail polish the next morning.

December 20th, 1991 - Hazel Show leaves her house at 6:45 a.m. to keep her appointment with the guidance counselor. At approximately the same time, Lawrence Yunkin was dropping off Lisa Michelle Lambert and Tabitha Buck on Oak View Road in a field near the apartment building. Lambert told Yunkin to pick them up in 15 minutes. Within 35 minutes, Laurie Show would be dead.

The pair, Buck and Lambert made their way across the field still dark before the rising sun had fully made it's appearance. They made their way to the bottom steps leading to the Shows' second floor condo when Michelle turns to Tabitha and says "Ask if Hazel's home, but ask if there's a Hazel with some other last name."  "Why don't you go?" Tabitha asked her in reply. "Hazel knows me and doesn't like me." Lambert said.

Tabitha made her way to the door, with every step her feet felt ten times heavier. She raised her hand and knocked at the door. Laurie answered the door and "I asked if Hazel was home and she said 'No.' I asked again for some reason." Lambert comes up behind Buck and charges in front of her into the Show home where a brief struggle ensues. The two began struggling, arms flailing. For one brief instance Laurie felt freedom as Lisa released her with a shove. Laurie ran towards Buck as Lambert screamed, "Don't let her out! Stop her!" just as Laurie ran into Buck and the door. Laurie grabbed the sunglasses off of Bucks face and tossed them across the room, scratching her in the process.

"She didn't get out," Buck tells the story quietly from prison during an interview with a local paper.

Tabitha catches a gleam of something shiny and realizes that Lambert has a knife. Laurie must have seen the blade at approximately the same time, though she made an attempt to grab it from Lambert. Considering her fearful state, I don't think she realized that she was grabbing the blade itself or perhaps she didn't care. In either event, Lambert yanked the knife back causing wounds on Laurie's hand.

"There was blood," Tabitha recounts somberly, "Laurie went running back to a room. Michelle went after her. Then me."

Tabitha watched in horror as Michelle grabbed Laurie by the hair and drew the knife through it, chopping off hand fulls of her hair then began savagely beating her. Tabitha recalls seeing Laurie with the phone but is unsure of what happened to it. Laurie tried to fight off her attacker as best she could by kicking her, but Lambert was enraged and Laurie had no chance. Lambert, the instigator, the perpetrator of this heinous crime is screaming "You're going to kill my baby!"

( Well excuse me for inserting my own comments at this point, but DUH.)

Laurie, still surprised and unsure of what was expected of her is tearfully questing Lambert, "What do you want? Leave me alone!" Her plea's went unnoticed by Lambert who was at this point was uncontrollable to any extent. Laurie was bent over on her stomach as Lambert began beating her again, this time hitting her in the head with the knife. Michelle handed Tabitha the knife at that point and reached for the rope attempting to put it over Laurie's head. Tabitha recalls Lisa telling Laurie "Stop struggling Laurie." Michelle demanded, "It'll be a lot easier this way." as she attempts to place the rope around Laurie's neck. Lambert finally gets the rope around her neck, but Laurie begins struggling again. As Laurie leaned a little bit further over, Tabitha saw her reach for a pair of scissors and knocked them out her reach. Buck winces as she recalls the event. Lisa Michelle Lambert, driven into a jealous rage tells Tabitha to "Cut her throat" Buck refuses. Lisa takes the knife back from Buck and tired of Laurie's struggling, she cut's her in the leg and tells her to stop struggling.

Laurie had by now rolled over on her and began kicking at Lambert again. Laurie, desperately fighting for her life, is screaming, hitting, kicking, attempting any means of escape as Lambert again screams "You're going to kill my baby! Don't let her kill my baby!" Lambert screamed. "Grab her feet! Make her stop kicking!" Buck in response to Lamberts cries placed herself on Laurie's legs facing the door and away from the horror unfolding behind her. In the next instant Laurie stopped moving. The moment Laurie stopped moving, Tabitha slowly raises herself off of Laurie's legs and turns in shock to a scene that should have been in a horror movie. She watched as Lisa Michelle Lambert drew the knife across Laurie's throat as though she were cutting a loaf of bread.

"Is she dead?" Tabitha asked in horror.
"I don't know." Lisa responded then proceeded to to cut Laurie's throat further in an attempt to make certain she was indeed dead. Tabitha watched as Lisa Michelle Lambert held Laurie's chin back with her left hand and cut her throat numerous more times.

Within minutes, a 16 year old innocent child was dead at the hands of two killers. One committed the act, the other did nothing to prevent it.

When Lambert was finished carving 16 year old Laurie Show up, she handed the tip of the knife to Tabitha. Tabitha placed the tip in her coat pocket, picked up her sunglasses that had been knocked off during the initial confrontation and together, the two killers left the condo and Laurie Show bleeding to death on the floor on her bedroom.

The two, Lambert & Buck, went down the stair case and exited the front door. Before leaving Lisa instructed Tabitha to put the head of her sweatshirt up. The couple headed towards the wooded area and walked behind or in a line of tree's behind the Frys' condo, went across the field and toward the road. They ended up along the road in some bushes where Lawrence was waiting to pick them up.

The only thing Buck recalls conversation wise in the vehicle leaving the crime scene was Lawrence looking over at Michelle and questioning "Blood?"

Hazel Show Returns Home
At approximately 7:20 a.m. Hazel Show returned home only to be stopped by a concerned neighbor questioning her as to what was going on upstairs to cause so much commotion. Hazel dropped everything and ran, a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. No person, certainly not a mother, should ever have to witness the scene the Hazel Show was greeted with when entering her 16 year old daughters bedroom. When entering Laurie's bedroom, Hazel saw Laurie in the middle of her bedroom floor lying in a puddle of her own blood. A rope was knotted around her neck and her throat was savagely cut.

Ms. Shows' testimony:
"I saw Laurie lying on the floor with her arms moving and making a noise - and there was blood." After yelling to a neighbor to call 911, Show used a kitchen knife to cut the nylon rope knotted tightly around her daughters neck. Her testimony continues, " I cut the rope and she breathed deeply. I lifter her up and cradled her, and that's when I saw that her throat was cut. I said, 'Honey, I'm sorry it was a setup.' " It was at that point that Laurie would convict her killer even as her life was slipping away from her, "Michelle did it. Michelle. Michelle."
