Picture
this you’re a 19 year old teenager sitting in the backseat
of a car with four of your friends. A 43 year old man approaches
the vehicle that you occupy with a brandished Kel-Tec 9 mm
pistol and tells everyone in the vehicle to put their hands
up. All comply by raising their hands in the air.
At
that moment this 43 year old man physically wrenches your
20 year old friend from the driver’s side of the vehicle
and forces him to the ground. You watch as everything seems
to happen in slow motion but at the same time everything is
moving at lightning speed and this 43 year old man places
the gun approximately 6 inches from the head of your friend.
This
man returns the gun to passengers in the vehicle once again
ordering them to keep their hands up and not to move. At that
moment, the 43 year olds 17 and 16 year old sons approach
vehicle. The 17 year old approaches armed with a baseball
bat while the 16 year old approaches the passenger side of
the vehicle with a loaded 12 gauge shotgun pointed directly
at you.
You watch
as the 17 year old beats your friend about the head and chest
with a baseball bat while his father is holding a gun on your
friend who is being beaten and the 16 year old is holding
a gun on you. The 17 year old takes a break from beating your
friend and appears at the passenger side of the vehicle where
he takes aim at you. He swings the bat and connects approximately
three or four times with the end of the baseball bat at your
neck.
When you
see the 17 year old heading away from the vehicle back towards
your friend, you place your hand on the outside of the car,
perhaps in an attempt to escape the vehicle, perhaps in an
attempt to aid your hurting friend. For whatever reason, you
reach your hand outside of the vehicle and at that exact moment,
the 17 year old draws back the bat and swings full force at
your arm connecting solidly. You can imagine that you would
probably scream in pain. Reeling from the blows of the baseball
bat, you turn to your girlfriend who is sitting beside you
and tell her that you’re scared.
You watch
as the 17 year old returns to the driver’s side of the
vehicle where his father is still holding your friend face
down on the ground. The 16 year old resumes his post by the
passenger side of the vehicle with his loaded shotgun. He
begins to jab you in the chest with this loaded gun, taunting
you, teasing you like a hunter would tease a wild animal.
He threatens you, tells you that if you move he’s going
to kill you. He has all the power, he knows it and he uses
it to make you feel not only inadequate, but to instill the
real fear of death in you.
In
your mind, you have a thousand things running through your
mind – I can’t die here, who is going to take
care of my sister, my father, my nephews … who is going
to mow the lawn, take out the trash .. I don’t want
to die … I don’t want to die.
You
repeat this to the 16 year old boy holding the gun on you
while you still have your hands up in the air in a non threatening
position. I don’t want to die, please don’t kill
me – you literally beg for your life. As you are begging
for your life, the boy continues to prod you with the barrel
of this 12 gauge shotgun. He finally gets tired of playing
with you as a cat plays with a mouse before they kill it and
pulls the trigger shooting you at close range in the right
side of your chest with a 12 gauge shotgun.
At
first you’re stunned; you aren’t exactly sure
what has happened to you. As you hear your friends around
you screaming, it slowly sinks in that you’ve been shot.
You didn’t notice when you’re hand automatically
came up to cover your chest where you’d been shot and
as you look down, you can see the blood beginning to seep
through your fingers and the reality hits you – you’ve
been shot and you’re going to die.
You
think that you should be hearing sirens and that an ambulance
should be arriving at any time you help you. Maybe, perhaps
you’ll be ok but where is that ambulance? It hurts,
it hurts so terribly bad and you aren’t sure that you
can be strong, but you try – you try so very hard.
You
sit there for approximately ten to fifteen minutes before
the world slowly starts to go dark. Do you know what is happening?
Do you know that you’re going to die? No one really
knows, the only thing that you know for certain is that there
are no police and no ambulance to help you.
What
you may not know is the reason that there are no police and
no ambulance is because this man and his two teenage sons
still have loaded guns on your friends and have warned them
that they have already shot one person and will not hesitate
to shoot another so if they attempt to leave – they
will be shot.
You
wonder why this kid shot you. You had begged him for your
life and he shot you anyway – why? Nothing makes sense
to you. You are 19 years old and now you’re dead at
the hands of a 43 year old man and his 17 and 16 year old
sons.
