Robin's Song
When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
Written by Justice Junction Senior Staff Author, copyright: Jill Maloy 2002

It was the July 31st weekend in 1999, the beginning of a very long weekend. Several people, locals and many tourists were geared up for the Maxville Highland Games. The Scottish dancing tournament has only within the last few years, gotten popular here in the States. In Canda, it's a tradition and one that is taken very seriously.

Just north of Mitch Owens Road in Gloucester, 22 year old Robin Brunet was celebrating the holiday weekend with her ex-boyfriend and some friends at a popular hang out called The Bears Den. Apparently Robin had some sort of argument with her ex-boyfriend and left the bar. She began walking across busy Highway 31 and made it across. By the time she had reached the other side, her friends had noticed her missing and went outside looking for her. They saw her as she reached the other side of the highway and called to her to come back.

It all happened in the blink of an eye. You can try to imagine what was going through Robin's head, but no one will ever know for certain. She was probably glad to go back to her friends, she was probably happy, in a festive mood. As she began walking back across the highway, nothing in her short 22 years would prepare her for what would happen to her.

It was as if it all happened in slow motion but at the same time moved at 100 miles an hour. It took forever, but it was over in seconds, one second Robin was walking, smiling and the next she was on the side of the road and she wasn't moving.

A car came out of nowhere, I doubt that Robin saw the car or that the driver of the vehicle saw her until it was too late to do anything about it but try to stop. Robin was run down, in cold blood. What happened to Robin was an accident, a chance that every person takes when they step foot into a busy highway or get behind the wheel of a car. However, what happened after the accident, was ... is ... criminal.

The car stopped about 150 feet up the road, the driver didn't even bother to turn off the motor. The driver opened the door, but decided just to look and see what he/she had hit. The person did not approach Robin, made no move what-so-ever to help Robin, they left her on the cold, hard shoulder of the road, bleeding, broken and near death.

What happened next really depends on how you feel about religion and people in coma's, can they hear, feel, see, smell? Can they do these things and we aren't aware of them? Did Robin know what had happened? Did she feel the pain? No, I don't think so. I think that Robin felt peace. I think that she felt her life here on earth slipping away, remembering her family, her mom, whom she loved so much, her dad, who she loved and respected, her sisters, her friends ..... but I think that at the same time she was experiencing these feelings, she was experiencing a new feeling .... the beginning. So while her life on earth was ending with those who loved her crying around her, her life with God was only just beginning.

In the meantime, the driver of the vehicle decided it was a good time to take off. When the driver took off, they were headed in the direction of Ottowa. Witnesses did not get a license plate number but did get a good description of the car. Here is a similar picture of the car police are looking for.

Car similiar to the one that killed Robin.

The vehicle is described as a white Toyota Camry 1990-1991 model. It is believed that there were at least two people in the car, perhaps a man and his wife/girlfriend or a mother or father with their child. More than likely the previous is the best guess. Also more than likely the couple had been drinking and knew that killing another human being with your car is vehicular homicide with mitigating circumstances, (if they were drunk), so better to run than to face up to the what they had done.

Regardless of the reason this person (and I use this term VERY loosely, for to be a person, you must be human and in order to be human you must have feelings, this person had no feelings for anyone else but himself.) decided to flee the scene. He/she decided that they didn't care about what happened to the person they had hit. They didn't stop to think how her family and friends were going to feel, the devastation, the totally complete loss that you feel when you loose a child, they didn't think, now they must pay the price.

Someone, somewhere, knows who callously ran down 22 year old Robin Brunet in cold blood and left her to die in the cold, dark night all alone. I am calling on ALL of Justice Junction readers, no matter where you are, to begin a search for Robin's killers. How you say? Ask questions and lots of them.

Robins' Mom and Dad Still Mourn For Their Lost Daughter

Do you know anyone who took a trip to Canada during the July 31st, 1999 weekend? Did they act strange, distant, or suspicions when they returned? It doesn't matter if they own a white Toyota or not, perhaps they rented one in the states and made up some lame excuse such as hitting deer when returning it to the agency. But I don't believe that the car was a rental, I believe that it was privately owned. I also believe that this person was not from the area as an extensive search was done door to door, searching for anyone who owned a vehicle such as the one above. Anyone that you know that made a trip to Canada during that specific weekend is suspect. Please people, this family needs to know who killed their daughter

If you have any information to pass along, if you know ANYONE who you think that police should know about, please, Justice Junction is begging you, to use any of the contact information below to contact the proper authorities. If you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Justice Junction and we will forward the information to the proper authorities.

Also, please keep in mind that there is a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed Robin Brunet. Even if the reward is not important to you, please contact us with any information that you have.

Robin is dead and gone .... at the hands of another human being. This person should be punished. I'm sure that they live in a world of agony, tormented by what they have done. I think that on some level, they want to turn themselves in. If they have a decent bone in their body, they could not, could never, live with themselves knowing that they had hit and killed another human being.

Say prayers, readers, and lots of them. This family needs closer, they need to know who did this and why they didn't help try to save their daughter rather than their own asses.

Please read When Tomorrow Starts Without Me, a poem that I'm not entirely too sure who wrote. If you wrote this poem, please accept my apologies and I do hope that you will let me continue to post this fabulous poem to our web site.
